Moldova is a growing producer of high-quality lavender oil, with major cultivation in its southern and central regions. The plant thrives in the country’s dry climate. Lavender requires well-drained, sandy or gravelly soil and 6–8 hours of sunlight per day. There was severe cold during the crucial phase of growth of lavender in Moldova. This has resulted in low yields. Plantation area has also reduced with farmers moving towards more profitable options. Despite these challenges, producers have kept price increases moderate.
