Star Anise CO2 Oil India Illicium verum

  • Description

Star anise (Illicium verum) is also known as sweet cumin. It belongs to the fennel and parsley family. The anise fruit is first dried and then star anise oil is extracted from anise seeds in a CO2 extraction process. The CO2 extraction method is used for extracting top grade star anise oil. As compared to the steam distillation method which is used conventionally, the CO2 extraction method yields a greater amount of essential oil. The aroma of this CO2 extract is fresher, brighter and more true-to-life than the steam distilled essential oil

This oil may also be helpful in aromatherapy blends that are intended to help digestion and muscular aches or pains. Very much popular in flavor industry for culinary use.

Star Anise is an evergreen tree usually growing between 12-16ft, indigenous to Southeast Asia. The plant part used is the dried, ripe fruit that consists of around 8 seed bearing woody follicles attached to a central axis in the shape of a star, hence the name, Star Anise.
