Geranium flourishes in temperate to subtropical climates, preferring loamy, well-drained soils enriched with organic matter. It requires full sun and moderate rainfall for optimal growth. In India, geranium cultivation is concentrated in the hilly regions of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and the Nilgiri hills of Tamil Nadu. Oversupply in the market had pushed farmers towards alternate crops. Now the season has concluded, and yields have declined. There is strong demand for the oil. With no significant carryforward stock, supply is limited, and buyers are procuring available volumes at high rates. Market is only expected to stabilise once fresh crop becomes available in the coming two-three months. Till then prices are expected to remain elevated.
