Blue Tansy Oil Morocco Tanacetum annuum

  • Description

Blue Tansy essential oil is steam distilled from the tops of the sustainably grown yellow-flowered Mediterranean plant Tanacetum annuum found in northern Morocco. It is also referred to as Moroccan Tansy. Chamazulene, a chemical component in Blue Tansy, provides the characteristic indigo colour and is thought to have a number of therapeutic and aromatherapy benefits, in particular for providing a soothing sensation when applied to the skin. It also helps to reduce the appearance of blemishes and uplifts mood when used aromatically. This cooling essential oil is useful in soothing topical inflammation and when looking to ease itchy bug bites. This oil can also be used to reduce unwanted muscle spasms and also helps to reduce the presence of unwanted bacterial, fungal, or viral activity. It is also often used to help ease nerve pain, acute arthritis, and fibromyalgia.

It is an annual plant that grows to 40 centimetres in height, with yellow heads that bloom from August to October. It is not to be confused with perennial common tansy, or Tanacetum vulgare, known as being highly toxic, but having numerous applications in agriculture.
