Chamomile
Seeds are planted after summer, around September with flower picking starting sometime before or after the New Year. Distillation occurs using steam around March / April.
Chamomile cultivation in Egypt is primarily concentrated in the Fayoum Governorate and the Nile Delta. Egyptian
blue chamomile typically prefers well-drained, fertile soil with fine texture and full sun exposure, thriving in warm temperate climates. The crop benefits from moderate water and grows well on sandy-loam soils, common in some reclaimed agricultural areas of Egypt. Steam distillation of the flowers yields a rich blue oil. Crop volumes and price have maintained the levels of last year.
