The materone or Maillette names correspond to original lavender and is often also called Lavender Fine. Lavender Maillette is considered one of the better quality lavender’s available in today’s market. It has sweeter and softer characteristics owing to its higher lineally acetate content.
Lavander Maillette is a plant which grows between 40-90 cm in height. It grows at elevations of 500 metres. and higher, whereas lavandin grows starting at elevations of 300 metres. making large scale plantations all the most complex and costly. Given these heights it is capable of surviving temperatures between -5 and 40 c. Under normal conditions the plant will survive around 10-12 years.
This particular lavender finds its way into many fine fragrances and finer aromatherapy products where its benefits include analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, aromatic, carminative, deodorant, insecticide, nervine, sedative, stimulant and stomachic, to name but a few
The oil is obtained through the steam distillation of the flowers and is harvested in July.
